MY STORY
Nick Haemker
Since I can remember, the love of music has always been my passion. I started taking lessons when I was 11 years old in September of 1999. From that moment on, I discovered my love and passion for the piano and classical music. I continued my education in piano and music theory all the way through college. In 2005 I started taking music history, theory, orchestral and piano courses through Las Positas College in Livermore, CA. In the year of 2011, I was able to graduate with an A.A. in Music and a Certificate in Beginning Piano Pedagogy, later on acquiring a certificate in Teaching Intermediate Piano. During my college years, starting in the year of 2008, I worked at a music studio called SmARTSunlimited, where I taught piano, guitar and drums for 6 years. In 2014, I went on to teaching privately and have been teaching ever since. For me, teaching is not only about learning music, but also helping us learn about our own selves. For me, Chopin's music has greatly inspired and become a part of me. I feel closer to his music more than any other composer. Though I feel a great connection to Chopin's music, I also enjoy playing and teaching music from Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th & 21st century composers and today's popular piano songs and artists. I hope to not only teach children to play piano and how to read music, but to also help them discover themselves through music. I look forward to working with you.

At Opus Piano Studio, my goal is to provide you with a comfortable learning experience. I strive to make learning the piano, reading music and developing musicianship skills as enjoyable as possible. I will always listen to my students and help pick selections of music that they enjoy and will want to learn.

When you sign up for piano lessons with me, you can be assured plenty of individual attention and focus. Each lesson involves learning technique, theory and musicality skills, as well as putting those skills into practice when learning new pieces of music. Lessons are conducted every week in the student's home. This is perfect for the parent or student who does not have the time to travel to a separate location for piano lessons on a weekly basis. Lessons are 30 minutes in length, which is perfect for the beginner student. For intermediate to advance students, I also offer 45 and 60 minute lessons.
